The role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Software Delivery Manager to join our growing consulting function, primarily focusing on the Energy & Commodities trading sector and based in our Houston office. In this role you will be instrumental in supporting the Senior Business Development Executive in the sales and pre-sales space, providing input to client discussions to help convert opportunities. You will be a seasoned software professional who sets the tone for the working environment by being a strong role model, demonstrating great people leadership experience, technical nous and commercial acumen. You will be working alongside highly collaborative, forward-thinking technologists across Digiterre, Collabera and Ascendion who enjoy working in an environment that values continuous learning and getting results. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the international expansion of Digiterre into the US market.
- Reporting directly to the CTO, and working closely with the Senior Business Development Executive, International Expansion and Integration Lead, Delivery Teams and CEO, you will be responsible for the delivery of complex IT projects for clients predominantly in the Energy & Commodities trading sector.
- The role is very people-centric; you must have excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of stakeholders to ensure that projects are being smoothly delivered.
- You will demonstrate your credibility in dealing with our clients through your technical experience and up to date knowledge of the modern frameworks, enterprise development patterns and tools/techniques currently in use as well as the typical problem statements associated with the Energy & Commodities trading sector.
- You have a strong background in complex engineering projects building bespoke software solutions rather than BAU platform maintenance or vendor management.
- You may not be hands-on right now however it's highly likely you have come from a development position within recent years and still retain a keen interest in software development (e.g. keeping abreast of latest technology trends, attending meetups)
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing all aspects of bespoke software development and digital transformation; responsibilities will include planning, leading, organising and motivating small agile teams to achieve high level of performance.
- Delivery management of one or more projects, with a team of consultants potentially operating across multiple client sites in the wider Houston area.
- Commercial activity e.g. workshops, running proof of concepts and pre-sales meetings.
- You will work closely within the management team to resolve issues and will act as escalation point for your project teams and your clients.
- Ensuring clients are billed accurately against resource plans.
Requirements
- You are a confident communicator with excellent influencing and negotiating skills, comfortable working with senior stakeholders to resolve problems as they emerge and ensure successful project outcomes. Ideally, you will have experience working in a professional services environment working on high value, complex engagements with tight deadlines.
- Working exposure/experience in Energy & Commodities trading.
- Track record of successfully delivering bespoke software development solutions (both greenfield and brownfield) and large-scale digital transformation using pragmatic application of agile development methodologies.
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle models and multiple agile development principles and practices. Examples including Scrum, Kanban, Nexus, SAFe, LESS and DSDM. This is backed up by a strong academic record, typically achieving 2.1 or above in Computer Science at degree and/or post graduate studies.
- You are client focused, positive, creative and driven to work collaboratively to find the right technology solution for our client's business.
- You are continuously learning and demonstrate curiosity and interest in your work. This is a fast paced, constantly evolving technology market and you have a keen interest in the application of software and data technologies to solve significant business problems for large enterprises.
- Excellent people leadership skills- you have proven experience in hiring strong technical talent, motivating people and creating healthy, productive and ethical teams.
