Position Summary:

Samsung SDS America is looking for a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator with expertise in VMware administration to join our growing infrastructure team. This role involves the operation and maintenance of our virtual server environment for both data centers and lab offices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Windows/Linux system administration and VMware, and be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of our IT infrastructure.

In addition, this position will work with our highly skilled DevOps team to manage both development and production environments. Our team is responsible for managing the system and network infrastructure of Samsung Electronics office, lab, and warehouse facilities in the US region.

The team works a hybrid schedule: 4 days onsite and 1 day work from home. The office is located in Plano, TX.

 

Responsibilities:

  • VMware Administration: Install, configure, and manage all aspects of the VMware/vSphere environment, including creating virtual machines, installing new ESXi hosts, data store creation and maintenance, P2V migrations, and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • System Management: Perform regular system maintenance, hardware and software upgrades, physical to virtual migrations, and performance tuning.
  • Network and Application Monitoring: Monitor network and application environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Reporting: Generate operations reports related to system capacity and utilization
  • User Support: Provide support for QA and Technical Support staff, troubleshooting Windows and ESX server OS issues and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Task Management: Manage and complete assigned tasks and tickets in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure and implement the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems, applications, and services (hardware and software).
  • On-Call Support: Be available for on-call support as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Windows/Linux system administration.
  • 5+ years of experience in VMware administration.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • Experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI), specifically Dell VxRail.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and server hardware
  • Proficiency in VMware technologies (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi) and virtualization best practices.
  • Experience with Systems Administration in enterprise environments, including MS Windows and UNIX/Linux server operating system environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Project lead experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able and willing to commute to the office in Plano, TX 4 days per week.
  • Able and willing to occasionally travel for business within the U.S. up to 10%
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
