Full Job Description

Samsung SDS America is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Data Storage Administrator with expertise in NetApp NFS to join our SARC Operation team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the architecture and design of large-scale data storage related services. You will be responsible for resolving highly technical issues, providing Level 3 support, and serving as a senior resource for IT initiatives and operations. You will also participate in design reviews and drive specific goals around performance, scalability, and availability.  You will fill a key technical role in our team with equally dedicated engineers supporting our local client’s data storage infrastructure and services.

This role works a hybrid schedule (3 days office/2 days remote) at our Samsung Austin R&D Center (SARC) location in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform level 3 support functions, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and support of NetApp ONTAP and StorageGRID Environments
  • Configure and troubleshoot CommVault on Linux and Windows platforms
  • Provide configuration and support for VMware storage environments, including Nimble
  • Identify and determine root causes of performance issues in an EDA environment from end users to storage subsystems
  • Implement vendor-supplied tools to support storage platforms effectively
  • Develop new monitoring frameworks using open source, commercial, or internally-developed tools
  • Create dashboards for end users to enhance visibility and usability
  • Maintain and update technical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Automate provisioning, updating, reporting, and alerting for file systems and storage arrays

Requirements

  • 7+ years of enterprise storage support
  • High School Diploma
  • Expert level knowledge of NFS on NetApp ONTAP or similar storage platforms
  • 1+ years of experience supporting at least one enterprise backup system: CommVault, Networker, or NetBackup
  • Expert level knowledge of storage architectures and protection technologies
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Proficiency in translating end user requirements into hardware and software requirements
  • Independent work capability at all phases of the storage life-cycle
  • Effective communication skills with users and colleagues across multiple time zones
  • Willingness to provide on-call support 24x7 for approximately 2-3 weeks per year
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability to diagnose issues with NFS on Linux, intermediate working level knowledge of Linux
  • Able and willing to commute to the office in Austin, TX 3 days per week (relocation assistance may be provided)
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 5+ years supporting enterprise storage in an EDA or HPC environment, with 3+ years of NetApp support
  • 1+ years of experience supporting storage for Windows clients and VMware
  • NCDA certification
  • RHCE or VCP or equivalents
  • Advanced Linux skills
  • Proficiency with LDAP or Active Directory and understanding of the storage automount process
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions
  • Experience with NetApp FabricPool using StorageGrid or other S3 environments
  • Experience with NetApp APIs
  • Experience supporting CommVault and database technologies
  • Basic proficiency with Python
