Job Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst will be an integral part of the Finance team and will be responsible for validating, quantifying, and proving project financial models, ensuring we continue to identify and develop competitive projects. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist in corporate level analysis by preparing budgets and fund valuation models.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to obtain and validate project assumptions
- Lead capital committee SME sign-off processes
- Develop and optimize financial models and business cases for Executive team and capital committee approvals
- Prepare financial forecasts and conduct cash flow analyses
- Collaborate with teams to evaluate potential development opportunities
- Evaluate M&A opportunities including valuation, due diligence, and negotiation
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and investment memos
- Evaluate financial models for new renewable technologies and markets
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of quarterly reporting requirements
- Prepare and update corporate level models for budgeting and valuation purposes
- Facilitate corporate audit process (IFRS) and SOX compliance
- Assist in training project financial analysts to perform financial modeling and capital committee approval documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field
- Preference for 3- 5 years relevant experience
- Leadership experience preferred
- Experience in supporting M&A transactions preferred
- Specific experience in the renewable energy sector would be an advantage
- Proficient in financial modelling
- Excellent quantitative analysis skills
- Excellent financial analysis and knowledge of excel
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Be capable of analyzing very large amounts of financial and numerical data and extracting, summarizing and communicating key results
- Work pro-actively individually, and collaboratively within the team
- Be highly organized, follow procedures and meet timelines
- Preference for experience at a utility, fund or investment bank
This role requires an in-depth understanding of, and experience in:
- Power Markets; structure, participants, support mechanisms, pricing dynamics, power trading
- Power Price Forecasting & Modelling; consultants, forecasts, factors, financial modelling
- Renewables Development Financing; technologies, participants, influencers, revenue streams, financing structures, financing participants
Location: Preferred location is Houston, TX. Role is hybrid / remote depending on team requirements. Position may require periodic trips to Richmond, VA for team meetings
