Here at NORIT the SH&E Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe work conditions and practices, leading incident investigations, assisting with occupational hazard recognition and control, monitoring compliance programs, performing safety audits, preparing regulatory reports, and fostering continuous improvement. In this role you will have the autonomy to influence SH&E processes on our site.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work conditions and practices that meet SH&E regulations and company policies.
  • Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend improvements.
  • Assist site management in recognizing and controlling occupational hazards and environmental risks.
  • Perform safety and environmental audits, recommending corrective actions and maintain records and documentation related to SH&E activities.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and schedule stack testing, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) sessions and maintain OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
  • Continuously seek improvement opportunities and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programs for SH&E compliance.
  • Coordinates and oversees Site Security.
  • Performs inspections of off-site landfill and lagoon.
  • Performs required activities associated with off-site lagoon discharge.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering or 7+ years of related experience.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to influence actions and mindsets.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and oversee work of direct and indirect reports.
