Full Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist Trainer trains patient services as a member of the training team, using imaging modalities. Trains on radiographic procedures, how to apply principles of radiation protection and the ALARA principle, trains on how to exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures, provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures, recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures.

General Job Duties:
- The Radiologic Technologist Trainer will demonstrate how to greets patients in the waiting area in a courteous, professional manner.
- Trains on obtaining patient history: assesses/triages patient, measures vital signs, and trains to record information on patient charts.
- Train on how to position instruments and equipment and hands to provider when directed. Demonstrates how to clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after use.
- Trains on how to administers injections, medications, eye and ear irrigations and enemas, dresses/bandages wounds and incisions, how to draw blood, and how to assist provider with any procedures, as directed.
- Demonstrates how to perform diagnostic tests including eye exam, electrocardiograph, defibrillator, cardiac monitor, oxygen equipment, pulse ox, peak flow and inhalation treatment equipment.
- Trains on how to perform CLIA-waived lab tests, and how to draw blood and collect. Demonstrate the labels and processes lab specimens for send-out.
- Trains on how to perform occupational medicine protocols, by using proper technique and guidelines. Demonstrates the preparation for pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratory.
- Trains on how to correctly prepare and administer medication. Demonstrate how to use patient identifiers prior to administration of medication. Review how to document administration in required logs.
- Trains on removing sutures and/or staples and how to change sterile and non-sterile dressing.
- Trains on how to complete medical charting to include medical services rendered, test results and supplies used.
- Trains on patient call backs, and trains on scheduling follow up appointments.
- Trains how to monitor disposable inventory and how to places orders for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
- Trains on how to perform quality checks on medical equipment to ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Demonstrates how to Introduce self to patient and patient’s family if appropriate; communicates with the patient, explains the procedure(s), alleviates anxiety.
- Trains on how to present examination education to the patient prior to the exam, shows how to give post procedure instructions pertinent to the exam performed.
- Trains on how to Interview the patient to obtain patient’s medical history or important information regarding the nature of the exam being performed; documents that information appropriately.
- Trains on how to utilize shielding /collimation to minimize patient radiation exposure, complies with Radiation Safety Procedures and ALARA principles; monitors own radiation exposure.
- Train on how to properly performs radiographic modalities and procedures.
- Train on how to collect all necessary forms from patient regarding release for procedure to be performed.
- Other duties as assigned. This is a safety sensitive position.
Requirements
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited program for Rad Tech required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess DOT Urine Drug Screen Collector certificate and DOT BAT certificate.
- Must obtain and maintain a current certification in BLS.
- Experience:
- At least one year of experience as a Rad Tech, preferably in an Urgent Care setting.
- Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to clinic standards when no directions are given.
- Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
- Skills:
- PC skills or applicable computer experience.
- Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
- Ability to work all shifts.
- Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair or stretcher.
- Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
