Full Job Description
The Consumer Loan Closing Specialist provides internal and external Member service by supporting the delivery of consumer financial services. The person in this role is accountable to complete detail audits, process, and fund credit applications received by several delivery channels. Collaborates with Credit Union Branches, Credit Underwriters, and Lending Operation departments with the loan application process to provide efficient quality services to Member-Owners. Ensuring each loan produced comply with applicable Federal and State laws, banking regulations, and Smart Financials’ policies and procedures.
Daily funding of consumer loan applications into the core date system (DNA). Validate member-owners information is exported accurately to core system and ensure Credit Underwriter’s conditions are met.
Complete a detail audit of documents received for processing, ensuring each file processed complies with Credit Union guidelines, federal and state laws, and regulations.
Serves as the subject matter expert on consumer loan services by aiding with general questions received from branch personnel and internal team members including late closing assistance.
Email DocuSign materials and closing documents to member-owners in a timely manner. Daily mailing of adverse action letters to applicants to meet compliance standards.
Post back-end products and down payment to appropriate Member-Owner accounts, including general ledger postings of tax, title, and license fees required for lien perfection. Disburse checks for payments to external financial institutions, Member-Owners, and dealerships.
Create ACH records in system to disburse funds to/from accounts of the authorized party. Provide Member-Owner’s current insurance information to vendor for proper tracking.
Complete other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Experience
A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A high school degree or equivalent

Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications generally require shorter and not in-depth discussions.
Other Skills
Basic mathematical operations/skills. Familiar with Consumer Lending laws and regulations. Financial services core systems experience. Knowledge of legal compliance related to FCRA. Computer skills with the ability to handle extensive data entry in an accurate & timely manner. Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel). Professional and courteous communication skills.

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
