Responsibilities:
- Cross-Commodity Sales Support: Collaborate closely with the sales team to further business objectives and client needs. Develop in-depth knowledge of Sparta’s range of products with a view to supporting client interactions, together with the sales team, in the role of a subject matter expert. Ensure that analytical insights directly contribute to sales efforts and revenue generation in the oil commodities sector.
- Oil Supply, Demand, and Trade Forecasting: Sparta aims to become the best-in-class for oil fundamentals forecasting. Your expertise will actively contribute to Sparta’s nascent forecasting service. A key focus will be developing, maintaining, and enhancing our supply, demand, and trade forecast models, for the US region. This project will increasingly leverage Sparta’s unique high-frequency arbitrage data to predict trade flows. Work closely with our data science team to develop and incorporate machine-learning solutions where possible.
- Coordinate/Participate in Thought Leadership Events: Engage in coordinating and participating in thought leadership events within the commodities industry to bolster Sparta's presence and showcase expertise in oil fundamentals analysis.
- Participate in Cross-Functional Projects and Initiatives: Actively participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and driving business growth. Leverage insights from oil fundamentals analysis to inform decision-making processes and contribute to market analysis within the research team, in line with business objectives.
- Foster Strong Relationships with the External Market: Cultivate and foster strong relationships with external market stakeholders, including clients and industry partners, leveraging your connections within the commodities industry to enhance Sparta's influence and market presence.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in oil fundamentals analysis with a focus on supporting sales efforts.
- Experience maintaining detailed supply and demand models is a must.
- Strong understanding of the oil commodities market, data analysis, and technological trends.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, data, and sales.
- Proficiency in developing analytical models and machine learning solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, thriving in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to drive strategic vision while executing hands-on solutions.
- Well-connected within the commodities industry, with a track record of building relationships.
- Up-to-date knowledge of market trends, geopolitical factors, and regulatory changes affecting the oil commodities market.
