General Role Description
Plan and manage shipping, consolidation, forecasting, and internal and external client service of logistics operations.
Role Accountabilities
- Design, develop, implement, measure, and manage processes to continuously increase capability in responding, analyzing, resolving, and reporting logistics issues in a timely manner
- Analyze business needs and logistics industry trends and conditions, recommend appropriate solutions, implement as approved
- Develop and recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, and equipment
- Determine the most effective means for the shipment of domestic and international materials, including shipments from suppliers and integrators, negotiating where appropriate for optimal cost, quality, and schedule
- Manage selection, qualification, and performance evaluation of carriers
- Negotiate transportation rates and services for all modes of transport
- Analyze the financial impact of logistics operations and report to appropriate individuals
- Ensure import and export requirements are met by analyzing government shipping regulations, intervening and/or escalating to manager as appropriate
- Update Company’s Preferred Carrier List and distribute to internal clients
- Obtain quotes directly from carriers for both budgetary needs and live shipment needs
- Arrange remote shipments, as requested
- Resolve transportation issues for both internal and external clients
- Manage damage claims, facilitating all parties to achieve a timely resolution
- Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery, escalating to manager as appropriate

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 2 years of experience in logistics
- Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international shipment terminology, documentation, and carrier shipping via land, sea and air
- Demonstrated knowledge of negotiating rates, lanes, and services with logistics providers
- Demonstrated experience using an ERP system
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing, measuring, and improving effective processes in functional areas
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Availability to travel domestically, less than 5% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in related field
- 4 years of experience in logistics
