Full Job Description

Direct Counsel has partnered with a premier, Chambers-ranked law firm in their search for a mid-level associate to join their Litigation practice in either Houston or Dallas TX. The litigation practice covers diverse areas of complex commercial litigation including antitrust, trade secrets, real estate, securities, contract, breach of fiduciary duty and other business torts. Candidates must have strong litigation experience, work ethic, excellent academic credentials and be admitted to the Texas Bar.

Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Handle all aspects of litigation from inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on issues related to antitrust, trade secrets, real estate, securities, contract disputes, and fiduciary breaches.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to provide legal advice, updates on case status, and strategic recommendations.
  • Drafting and Filing: Prepare and draft legal documents, including complaints, answers, motions, and briefs, and file them with the court in a timely manner.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop case strategies and work with senior attorneys to implement effective litigation plans.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure seamless case management and client service.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in court, including attending hearings, arbitrations, and trials as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Texas state bar
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial litigation experience
  • Strong knowledge and interest in complex commercial litigation such as antitrust, trade secrets, real estate, and securities
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with clients who have been injured.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting software.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $310,000 to $390,000 annually
