Full Job Description

- Room patients and obtain and clearly document all necessary patient information in the electronic medical record, which includes vitals, history of present illness, etc.
- Administer in a timely and appropriate manner injections and routine office treatments (nebulizer, ear lavage, peak flow, etc.)
- Utilize organizational skills to facilitate smooth patient flow and adhere to schedule in a reasonable amount of time.
- Assist other nursing staff with the above duties when time allows.
- Scheduling of outpatient diagnostic procedures and clinic physician appointment
- Accurately records information, obtains necessary information for patient contact, insurance information, and obtains written order for scheduled testing.
- Assist with providing follow up communication on diagnostic test results as directed by the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Obtain verification and pre-certification for all inpatient stays, outpatient surgery, and scheduled hospital procedures, as well as performing the medical necessity verification for Medicare patients.
- Call, fax or electronically submit new or refill medications ordered by the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Document and screen phones calls from patients in order for the physician or nurse practitioner to determine appropriate disposition of the patient.
- Comply with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Accurate and timely preparation of necessary forms (lab slips, x-ray requests, lab routing forms, vaccine records etc.)
- Respond to all phone calls in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Treats the patient and their family with respect and dignity while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Update and print practitioner’s schedules.
- Keep all exam rooms cleaned, orderly and well stocked.
- Assist with medical supplies maintenance and ordering duties.
- Utilizes communication skills effectively in obtaining information from patients, families, physicians, physicians’ offices and other Departments in the Hospital.:
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Vocational Nursing.
- Licensed by the Texas Board of Licensed Vocational Nurse Examiners.
- LVN experience in an office based practice. Two (2) to five (5) years required.
