Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is currently recruiting for full-time Intake Registered Nurse, 12hr shifts including alternating weekends.
The MOT Intake Registered Nurse is primarily responsible managing the MOT process
The MOT RN is responsible for the managing the MOT process, and also coordinates assessments of incoming patients with Intake Counselors, coordinate MD’s assessments and initiate the admission process. Duties include:
- Conducts clinical assessments
- Monitor e-fax and email for notification of patients waiting for assessment.
- Provisionally accept patients while conducting a nurse-to-nurse consultation
- Fast-paced and good judgment to determine the initial course of the patient's care.
- Verifies insurance
- Contacts Hospitals
- Obtains MDs orders and AOC approval for admission.
- Notifies Director of Intake of any denials of admissions
- The RN must possess well developed problem solving and team development techniques
- Administers patient medications prescribed by physician.
- Assist Dietary Staff in identifying patients on special diets and assuring patients' compliance with dietary orders.
- Assist other RNs in the intake department as needed.
- Performs related duties, as requested.
Requirements
Licensure/Certification: Required: Current Texas State Registered Nurse licensure.
CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications attained upon orientation.
Education: Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program
Experience: Two (2) years nursing experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention with psychiatric patients.
