Full Job Description
This position is responsible for selling insurance products to existing and potential customers while meeting/exceeding production standards. The Insurance Sales and Service Agent will also generate opportunities through existing members, new business, company leads, referrals, and incoming/outgoing calls.
The Insurance Sales and Service Agent is also responsible for providing consistent, accurate, and timely insurance servicing through verbal and written correspondence, building and maintaining relationships with members, and serving as the liaison between the agency and member.
This position requires superb customer/member focus and service delivery, sound ethics, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, plus strong administrative and organizational skills. The Agent should be self-disciplined and a self-starter.
- Meet/exceed production standards by selling customized insurance products to existing members, company leads, referrals and incoming inquiries / requests for quotes. Complete and submit applications and related documents to appropriate insurance markets ensuring the policy requirements are fulfilled including any underwriting documents or forms required.
- Renew and re-market accounts as needed in conjunction with agency standards. Daily servicing of accounts for clients by proactively responding to policy inquiries, making appropriate coverage changes, explaining coverage and premiums, informing clients of any policy or billing changes, and handling all associated servicing requests. Maintaining policyholder files accurately and consistently documenting conversations, sending appropriate correspondence, and adhering to all other automation procedures. Promptly and appropriately responding to incoming mail and phone requests.
- Develop and maintain quality staff relations to ensure profitable referrals and excellent internal service.
- Ensures compliance with all credit union and insurance agency policies and procedures as well as applicable state and federal rules and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, OFAC and Texas Department of Insurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and advanced keyboarding and ten-key skills. A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A high school degree or equivalent Texas General lines P&C license.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
