HR Business Partner Role Summary

With responsibility for HR operations, this role focuses primarily on employee engagement, talent acquisition, talent management/training and organizational development/effectiveness.  In addition, the HR Business Partner develops and leverages relationships with stakeholders across the organization (leaders, teams and employees) to drive initiatives specific to organizational effectiveness, change management and operational excellence.  This position reports directly to the VP of Manufacturing with a dotted line to the Vice President, Global Human Resources.

Requirements

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manages plant employee relations, including relationship building, employee advocacy, policy compliance, disciplinary actions, etc. Anticipates and addresses employee concerns. Understands, from an employee perspective, what is and is not working; solicits feedback, ensures issues are addressed and facilitates changes and improvements, as appropriate, to drive employee engagement and shape organizational culture;
  • Understands overall business strategies and partners with leadership to deliver HR programs, policies and practices to support achievement of those strategies;
  • Executes full cycle of talent management activities, including effective recruiting, onboarding, performance management, training and development and succession planning;
  • Drives strategic workforce planning in partnership with management to ensure the right people in the right roles at the right time, to achieve business goals and growth strategies;
  • Effectively develops and manages HR programs and policies. Assesses implications of HR initiatives on business strategies and recommends actions and/or improvements;
  • Through daily practice, ongoing management and audit, ensures compliance with company policies, best practices and federal, state and local employment laws and regulations;
  • Addresses employee concerns. Understands, from an employee perspective, what is and is not working; solicits feedback, ensures issues are addressed and facilitates changes and improvements, as appropriate, to drive employee engagement and shape organizational culture;
  • Develops, coaches and mentors managers and employees at all levels through analyzing situations, identifying appropriate action steps and providing appropriate support for decision making;
  • Challenges the status quo and “pushes back” when appropriate;
  • Champions company initiatives and is a proponent of key strategies and programs;
  • Mitigates risk and enhances culture through effective management of employee relations and administration of policies;
  • Leads and participates in other projects as needed, including cross functional and corporate HR initiatives;
  • Travel domestically as needed, typically no more than 10%;
  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on work load and business need.

What you’ll bring to the table:

Education & General Work Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or business-related discipline;
  • At least 5 years HR generalist experience (or in multiple HR disciplines including recruiting and employee relations);
  • Minimum of 2 years HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Technical/Functional Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment;
  • In-depth working knowledge of HR fundamentals, best practices, and applicable legal compliance topics;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, conflict resolution, customer service and coaching skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence for impact and collaborate across all organizational levels;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and HRIS/data management tools

Demonstrated Behavioral Skills:

  • Self-starter who is comfortable streamlining processes and generating pragmatic solutions;
  • Strong professional maturity / judgment, accustomed to dealing with confidential situations;
  • Ability to adapt to change and drive improvements throughout the organization;
  • Able to build relationships and trust of peers, employees, managers and executives;
  • High level of flexibility, commitment and performance standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Motor skills sufficient to successfully and safely use required tools and computer equipment
  • Ability to stand and/or walk as needed
  • Using proper lifting techniques, ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and safety shoes
