Gymnastics Assistant Coach/Coach

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Assistant Coach and/or Coach who will be all-in on our mission and who will provide coaching and instruction to children enrolled in the gymnastics program.

Requirements

Must Be At Least 16 Years of Age

EDUCATION:

Required: Coach and Assistant Coach: Currently in high school or have attained high school degree.

CERTIFCATION:

Required:

Coach:

• First Aid and CPR Certification (or obtained within 90 days.)
• USAG Certified for recreational or competitive coach (or obtained within 90 days.)

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Required:

• Assistant Coach: Experience working with children.

Preferred:

• Coach: 6 months of gymnastics teaching/coaching experience with children.
• Assistant Coach:Gymnastics/tumbling experience.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coach:

• Establish clear rules and expectations of the program with students.
• Maintain order and structure during class.
• Be actively engaged and involved with students each day.
• Be flexible with lesson plan and activity changes.
• Ensure space is safe for children.
• Train assistants to spot and lead classes.
• Formulate and follow a rotation schedule.
• Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
• Answer phones, emails, and help with registration as needed.
• Assist with class scheduling.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure station equipment is put away.
• Sanitize equipment in areas of high traffic.
• Ensure cleanliness of all spaces where students are present.

Assistant Coach:

• Train alongside a Coach to learn spotting techniques and how to lead a class.
• Assist Gymnastics Coach with all aspects of classroom management.
• Engage and be involved with students.
• Ensure safety at all times.

Assistant Coach:

Salary: Coach: $20 per hour, Assistant Coach: $15 per hour.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed. Possess the ability to walk, bend, stand, squat or sit on the floor (with students). Be able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
