Forklift Mechanic

The Ameriforge Maintenance Department is in search of a qualified and experienced candidate to join the team. This position contributes to the company’s success by performing accurate and efficient complex maintenance and installation of all phases of mechanical equipment, serves as a quality control point for the work of less senior maintenance mechanics and ensures all work is performed in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform PM service on Forklifts and other motorized equipment
• Perform breakdown repairs on Forklifts and motorized equipment
• Examines equipment to diagnose problems
• Disassemble machinery and repairs or replaces broken parts
• Dismantle, test and analyze malfunctioning equipment, hand tools and power tool and tests apparatus to locate defects
• Clean and lubricate parts
• Provide advice, guidance and training to less senior maintenance mechanics
• Inspect the work of others
• May operate forklift as needed
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Support and/or participate in the organization’s Continuous Improvement Programs
• Proactively participates in the Ameriforge Safety Program
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• Good communication skills, written and verbal
• Able to multi-task under tight deadlines
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical processes and procedures
• Knowledgeable with mechanical tools and equipment
• Able to work overtime as needed
• Team oriented and the ability to operate with a diverse group

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance, a plus
• Minimum 3 years of experience will be considered

Physical and Safety Requirements

• Standing, bending, sitting, lifting up to 50#, squatting and walking for 8 to 12 hours per day.

• Must wear required personal protective equipment when in designated areas
