This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Welding Faculty for Moore County who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach courses in welding, OSHA, technical math, computer aided drafted/manufacturing, and manufacturing processes. Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, welding shop or online courses and in immediate preparation for respective courses, maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught.
Requirements
EDUCATION
Required: Associate Degree in Welding or related field. High-quality work experience and professional certifications may substitute for educational requirements.
- Related work experience: Professional licensure and certifications related to the teaching assignment, honors and awards, continuing professional development, relevant peer-reviewed publications and/or continuous documented excellence in teaching.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three (3) years of experience in the welding industry.
Preferred: Teaching experience at secondary or post-secondary level.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in faculty development programs each semester and recruitment activities.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of students’ growth and progress to prepare students.
- Circulate through the welding shop and provide guidance to students who are performing welding tasks.
- Teach safety for all welding areas.
- Practice suitable safety measures at all times.
- Ensure all consumable items (ex. Gases and metal) are in stock and available.
- Plan, develop and present organized classroom and online instruction and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines and learning outcomes.
- Develop curriculum and prepare syllabus, keeping course content consistent with the catalog description.
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom/online instruction, direction projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
- Effectively teach Welding courses with a willingness to learn new software applications and equipment as needed.
- Select instructional materials, such as textbooks.
- Represent the Amarillo College welding program for external partners such as job fairs or student tours.

- Excellent oral, written and listening skills, including computer skills sufficient for email, Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint Skills course development and course management.

- Ability to deal with people in a professional manner.

Faculty Salary: Amarillo College Pay Grades, salary is determined by the Faculty Placement Schedule and the Faculty Salary Questionnaire.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
