Full Job Description
The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all facets of childcare operations at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. This includes the design, implementation, and evaluation of youth programs, as well as the provision of training and support aligned with the Cal Farley Model of Leadership and Service (MOLS). The Executive Director ensures effective alignment and integration of all residential and support services, maintaining high standards of care, compliance, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Program and Service Oversight
- Lead and oversee residential programs, Home Life division, casework, intervention services, and ensure all operations align with MOLS and licensing requirements.
- Supervise the Counseling Department, ensuring counseling services meet residents' plans of service (POS) and specific needs.
- Manage the Carter Day Care Center and ensure childcare services meet organizational standards.
Youth Program Development
- Oversee the Community-as-Lab Extended Learning Program, including Vocational, Farm, Ranch, and Horticulture programs, to enhance resident skill-building and growth.
- Design and implement youth care program objectives, integrating staff and logistical resources to fulfill program goals.
- Review and analyze program outcomes against established objectives, guiding teams in developing corrective measures.
Operational and Departmental Leadership
- Supervise the Transportation, Maintenance, and Custodial departments to support campus functionality.
- Oversee clinic, business services, food services, retail, and warehousing to ensure efficient, aligned operations.
- Lead the Training Department, ensuring all training aligns with MOLS and strategic vision.
Quality and Compliance
- Champion the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process, identifying quality indicators and opportunities for improvement across departments.
- Ensure youth programs comply with all internal and external regulations, developing protocols and training as necessary.
Financial and Administrative Coordination
- Collaborate with Finance to design, implement, and evaluate youth program budgets; ensure compliance with IRS and regulatory guidelines.
- Work with Human Resources to oversee staffing, recruiting, hiring, retention, performance management, and compliance with employment laws.
- Generate and review administrative reports and documentation as needed for operational clarity and accountability.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in a human services field is preferred.
- Certification: Must obtain Texas Childcare Administrator’s license within one year of employment.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in upper-level management within a related field, with strong experience in residential child care program design, multi-layered staff supervision, and budget management.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; strong public speaking, community relations, and time management skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand-eye coordination, and prolonged sitting/standing.
- Licenses: Valid Texas driver’s license and availability for travel as required.
