Resource Innovations is currently seeking a highly-motivated full-time professional for the role of an Energy Efficiency Engineer to support the energy efficiency implementation team in Houston, Texas.

As an Energy Efficiency Engineer with Resource Innovations, you will be responsible for the project coordination of CenterPoint Energy’s retro-commissioning program. Specific responsibilities will include overseeing the delivery of retro-commissioning services performed by a network of subcontractors, reporting and tracking projects, forecasting program performance, performing energy engineering services for utility and end-use clients, reviewing electric and gas energy efficiency projects including plan reviews, and other related tasks including onsite inspections.

The ideal candidate will be technically sound, reliable, and punctual, demonstrate initiative and follow-through, and be able to work collaboratively with multiple team members on numerous tasks. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. This position is currently remote.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate on day-to-day basis with program subcontractors to help support their participation in the program.
  • Establish and maintain a professional customer rapport, including identifying and anticipating customer needs and proposing solutions.
  • Understand the organization and decision-making process to work with stakeholders in determining project eligibility, schedule, and potential energy savings.
  • Provide technical and customer support to incentive program participants
  • Provide reliable and responsive customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors and customers.
  • Conduct retro-commissioning to identify energy conservation measures.
  • Perform energy engineering calculations to estimate energy savings and project financial returns.
  • Perform and review energy savings analyses. Maintain quality of the deliverable products, demonstrating technical accuracy, excellence and clarity while maintaining project’s budget and schedule.
  • Write reports summarizing the results of the energy analyses and recommend energy savings opportunities and incentive payments.
  • Meet with utility customer and vendors to present results, develop new scopes of work.
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, provide timely updates, and ensure our subcontractors are up to date with program information.
  • Support the team under the direction of the engineering managers.

Requirements

  • BS degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Business Management, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience.
  • A strong understanding of HVAC systems of commercial facilities including equipment controls and optimization and/or sustainability practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and work with technical staff
  • Familiarity with relevant energy efficiency codes and standards (e.g. IECC, Code of Federal Regulations, ASHRAE 90.1, etc.).
  • Knowledge and familiarity of the commercial building market and local industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong proficiency with oral communication, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven time management ability.
  • Experience and aptitude with working in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 Suite of applications and the ability to learn and operate company proprietary software is required
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license to visit customer sites
  • EIT, CEM BCxP, CCP, and/or CBCP certification (or on track to receive) is desirable.
