ABOUT THE PETER ATTIA DRIVE (EARLY MEDICAL)
The Peter Attia Drive is a podcast focusing on simultaneously helping people lengthen their lifespan and increase their healthspan. The Drive was founded by Dr. Peter Attia, a world-renowned expert on human longevity. Peter launched The Drive podcast six years ago and it currently has over 100 million downloads. The success of the podcast was followed by the publishing of his first book, Outlive: The Science & Art of Longevity, a New York Times #1 Best Seller that has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. The podcast, along with other filmed content and interviews, are also distributed via YouTube, where the channel has amassed over 760k subscribers and over 80 million views (Peter also has over 1 million Instagram followers).
Culturally, Early Medical has built an enviable environment of trust and open collaboration. The business operates remotely with key leaders currently across 3 US time zones. Due to this work philosophy, it is essential that all employees be high performing analytical thinkers, self-motivated, and be comfortable with a high degree of independence. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Digital, the Head of YouTube Post Production & Audience Development is a new position and is responsible for all things YouTube. While there has been some historical focus on YouTube, there is currently no YouTube dedicated resource or knowledge base in house. This role will mark the first time The Drive has fully invested in and prioritized video and YouTube distribution, and so we are looking for an experienced and proven YouTube editor and strategist to own our Youtube content strategy and channel growth. We are looking for a content strategist who has learned how to edit or an experienced video editor who’s able to make data informed edit decisions in the post process.
Your remit will be to develop and execute a holistic, audience and content strategy to deliver against the key objectives of the business which not only include YouTube growth, but center around driving traffic to the company’s website for conversion to The Drive paid subscription offering.
In order to get there, the company needs help with all of the pieces that go into building a YouTube channel:
- Recommendation of a comprehensive content strategy that will increase followers, viewers, and Adsense revenue on the platform
- Audience segmentation and targeting
- Data informed creative recommendations based on the highest gain Youtube KPI’s.
- Post/Edit: The execution of a post production edit plan that maximizes the video content captured for Podcast to drive maximum impact on YouTube
- Evaluating what’s been shot through a data lens and recommending edits based on what the data tells you. (In post, it's about lining up the creative elements and respecting the data. And it's the process of toggling back and forth, between ideas and data that leads to content people will watch.)
- CTR/Analytics - an understanding of YouTube data and what it tells you about:
- Video retention
- Title choices
- Thumbnail decisions
- Video Composition
- Viewing behavior (how people think and react to components of a video)
- Development of a robust response testing plan to optimize the above and the ambition to strive for continued performance improvements
- Day to day management of The Drive’s YouTube business with a proactive mindset
- Management of The Drive’s relationship with the YouTube partner team
- Partner with the The Drive digital leadership team to inform the The Drive customer journey from YouTube viewer to paid subscriber
- Daily optimization of the levers available to maximize drive to site traffic from the platform (i.e., thumbnails, titles, tags, tune in promotion and paid media, if applicable).
- Partner closely with digital and marketing team to ensure content being developed supports key objectives and to determine where and when paid media and other YouTube investments might be needed
Note: Because of the nature of the content The Drive believes in and promotes, credibility and consistent commitment to communicating truth in science is critical. Therefore, The Drive does not accept brand sponsors or do any affiliate deals for the podcast or social channels.
Requirements
WHERE YOU’VE BEEN
You have experience working with YouTube obsessed creatives and/or creators in a creator business, content production, agency or digital publisher. You have a first hand understanding of YouTube creative strategy and post production as well as how to edit and package YouTube content for distribution across other social platforms. You also have worked in an entrepreneurial environment where you had the opportunity to learn lots of stuff and so you know a little bit about everything. You also gained experience managing timelines and budgets - and you can multitask with the best of them.
You likely have experience building video and/or video strategy for:
- A digital (social) agency
- A public relations agency
- An influencer agency
- A digital media agency
- Another YouTube channel
- An existing creator or creator team
- A social media platform
OTHER SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES YOU NEED
- 10+ years of digital video creative experience including 5+ years editing videos for Youtube, developing creative strategy for Youtube and being heavily involved in Youtube post production.
- A track record of making informed creative/edit decisions that led to increased YouTube channel growth and revenue (working with YouTube channels that are below one million subscribers and growing them to 7 figure subscriberships a plus)
- Experience working in a high volume video production environment where there were multiple YouTube video postings each month.
- Strong (and current) understanding of YouTube analytics as well as 3rd party tools
- Strong understanding of social platform monetization—how the “algo” works
- Experience identifying and recommending winning video content formats
- Experience testing new content formats and creative elements
- You have experience recommending and maintaining a regular and consistent reporting system that can clearly inform non-YouTube brains about progress, challenges and opportunities.
- You have some experience with or an interest or passion for self improvement, wellness or mindfulness content that relies on science, facts and integrity for viewership success (vs clickbait).
- You love creators and have worked with enough to understand what drives them
- You can and have successfully worked independently and remotely
- You have great communication skills and the ability to simplify complex data and creative challenges for “non YouTubers.”
- You are always learning in order to stay ahead of the curve in a fast moving space to positively impact the business
- You have a POV and working understanding of other (non YouTube) video distribution channels—specifically Instagram, as well as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter/X and OTT/Streaming.
- You are motivated by a performance based incentive comp plan tied to subscriber growth, viewership growth and sub conversion.

SALARY RANGE
This role offers a very competitive base salary of $125-175k AND includes additional performance-based incentives tied to subscriber growth, viewership growth, and paid subscriber conversion. Various factors will determine a salary range, including external market benchmark data, geographic location, the highest level of completed education, and the years of experience sought/required.
