Job Description: Business Development Manager – Fire Alarm and Detection and Life Safety Low Voltage Contracting Market
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager with experience in the fire alarm contracting industry to join our team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with electrical contractors, general contractors, and other stakeholders in the commercial construction sector. The primary objective is to establish and grow a robust pipeline of off-market, negotiated bid opportunities for commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Development
- Build, nurture, and sustain long-term relationships with electrical contractors, general contractors, and other industry partners.
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and contractors, providing consistent communication and support to strengthen partnerships.
- Market Research & Opportunity Identification
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential off-market opportunities in the commercial construction sector.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging projects to identify prospective clients and partnerships.
- Pipeline Management
- Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of negotiated bid opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and estimators, to align project pursuits with company goals.
- Negotiation & Bid Strategy
- Lead the negotiation process with contractors to secure bids and finalize terms favorable to all parties.
- Ensure alignment with client needs, project timelines, and budget requirements.
- Networking & Industry Engagement
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote brand visibility.
- Cultivate relationships with decision-makers to position the company as a preferred fire alarm contractor.
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with the sales, operations, and engineering teams to align business development efforts with project execution capabilities.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on sales performance, pipeline status, and market insights to company leadership.
Requirements
Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the fire protection low voltage industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to engage clients.
- Must have exceptional sales and marketing knowledge of the fire alarm, suppression, security, and sprinkler divisions.
- Proficient and use CRM and sales tracking tools.
- Extensive knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
