Would be a plus to have a Tax Managers or Senior Managers for larger regional firms that have been in their role for 2+ years. Tax Manager for big 4 would be ideal!

The Director of Tax will play a pivotal role in leading the tax department, providing strategic guidance, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the tax department, including tax planning, compliance, and consulting services for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes for clients.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, international tax, state and local tax, and tax controversies.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends to advise clients and ensure compliance.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and delivering exceptional client service.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing training, guidance, and support to promote professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams within the firm to deliver integrated solutions and support overall business objectives.
- Participate in business development activities, including networking, client meetings, and proposal preparation to acquire new clients and expand services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; Master’s strongly preferred.
- CPA Certification
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in general, non-specialized tax accounting, (NOTAudit, consulting, sales and use, International, etc.) with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- MUST HAVE Public Accounting Experience
- MUST HAVE recent Tax ExperienceStrong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax planning, compliance, and consulting services for individuals, businesses, real estate, trust, foundations and exempt organizations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in tax software, CCH ProSystem Tax Software preferred and Microsoft Office Suite.
