The Data Governance Manager is responsible for developing and delivering data governance solutions / framework to accomplish technology and business goals. Key responsibilities include data governance tasks associated with the harmonizing, cleansing, transformation, and control of data in operational and analytics data systems. The manager will work with business & IT stakeholders, Product Owners and Engineers to aid in the governance of data and maintaining best practices regarding data access.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with stakeholders to establish data sharing structures and protocols and to support smooth change management for improved data sharing and adoption
- Define and maintain data definitions, descriptions, set values, quality rules, and calculations
- Authorized data sources and calculations
- Collaborate with the data stewards, data custodians and report developers
- Maintain ongoing communication with data stewards to ensure critical data issues are communicated timely for remediation
- Work actively with operational and reporting data stewards to create data controls, identify and execute measurement definitions, and actively measures compliance by producing recurring reports/dashboards
- Capture data transformation requirements, quality rules, and source system details for entry into a metadata repository along with maintaining an accurate enterprise critical report library
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in creating data governance policies, and procedures
- Experience with managing database, data architecture, or big data systems
- Experience in drafting and managing data policies, business data processes and business glossaries
- Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and people and relationships management is required
- Experience on deriving measurable outcomes from data-driven initiatives and data sharing practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills
- Solid understanding of data warehouse, ETL, data cleansing, and cloud architecture (Azure preferred)
- Experience with various data governance tools such as Collibra, Master Data Management (MDM), Informatica, Profisee, etc.
