Overview
We are adding a Construction Manager to our team.  If you are a self-starter and like being out in the field, we are looking for a construction manager with experience in heavy civil/infrastructure transportation projects.  Your construction knowledge combined with strong organizational and communication skills to keep projects on track will help support the growth of our team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and administrative reporting, utilizing best practices, to assess construction site progress on public projects and ensure project is built in compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Apply standard construction management methods on projects to read plans and specifications and observe, review, and update work at project site.
  • Use excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills to interact with clients, vendors, and project teams to ensure compliance to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Review and verify contractor “as built” drawings.
  • Maintain official project documentation.
  • Review and track budget and productivity providing updates as needed and coordinate pay estimates.
  • Report, track, and resolve non-conformance issues with engineering project managers, contractors, and/or client.
  • Manage change/field orders, coordinate inspections and pre-construction meetings, compile punch lists, track and update construction schedules, and complete project close-out process.
  • Track RFI’s and develop proposed responses; collaborate with Engineer of Record as necessary.
  • Track submittals and develop proposed responses; collaborate with design team, as necessary.
  • Assist project scheduler with verification of activity start/finish dates, percent complete, etc.
  • Assist project manager with oversight of field staff.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Construction Management of public civil engineering projects.
  • Texas PE or ability to become PE (timeframe negotiable based on experience), preferred
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand contracts to assess construction sites for compliance.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Knowledge of construction of underground utilities, detention ponds, sub-surface drainage infrastructure, roadways, bridges, retaining walls, and erosion protection.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work with multiple groups on and off the job site including clarifying client objectives and relaying information to all contractors.
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office (Work, Excel etc.); AutoCAD/Civil 3D, or equiv., and scheduling software a plus.
