This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Community Enrichment Teachers for our Moore County Campus who will be all-in on our mission and who will lead and teach Community Enrichment classes including but not limited to the following areas: sports and fitness, culinary, arts, computer, and martial arts.

This position is to be filled for Summer 2024 and on an as need basis, contingent upon institutional needs.

Requirements

Must Be At Least 18 Years of Age

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred: Some college

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: Successful Teaching Experience.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare lesson plans.
  • Maintain order and structure during class.
  • Actively engage students in applicable subject area each day.
  • Establish clear rules and expectations of the program with students.
  • Provide flexibility with lesson plans and activity changes for students.
  • Ensure space is safe, clean and organized.
  • Respond quickly in an emergency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Possess excellent communication, oral and social skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude under stress.
  • Be adaptable when dealing with a variety of ages.
  • Able to follow directions and chain of command.
  • Knowledge of the applicable subject area.
  • Ability to manage classroom of children or adults.

Salary: Amarillo College Pay Grades, Pay grade 8 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies, sports equipment, and program supplies as needed. Possess the ability to walk, bend, stand, squat or sit on the floor (with students.) Be able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
