Full Job Description

Integrity Urgent Care is looking for a skilled and compassionate Clinical Trainer to join our team. The Clinical Trainer is expected to train clinical new hire employees on how to provide care to patients following standards and protocols set by the sponsoring physician. The Clinical Trainer functions as a member of the training team. The Clinical Trainer will provide excellent customer service to new hires. The Clinical Trainer must possess exceptional communication skills, critical thinking skills, and independent decision making skills. Employees must also follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and must participate in safety instructional programs. The above duties shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.

Clinical Trainer responsibilities include:

  • Trains new clinical staff to greets patients in the waiting area in a courteous, professional manner, ensures patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently, escorts patients to discharge counter after treatment.
  • Trains on how to obtain patient history: assesses/triages patient, measures vital signs, and records information on patient chart.
  • Trains new hires by explaining treatment procedures and how to prepare patient and exam rooms for examination by provider.
  • Trains how to administer injections, medications, eye and ear irrigations, dresses/bandages wounds and incisions, draws blood, and assists provider with any procedures, as directed. All actions taken are by provider orders only.
  • Performs diagnostic tests including eye exam, electrocardiogram, oxygen equipment, pulse ox, peak flow and inhalation treatment equipment.
  • Trains on how to perform CLIA-waived lab tests, and trains on how to draw blood and collect lab specimens, labels and processes lab specimens for send-out.
  • Trains on occupational medicine protocols, using proper technique and guidelines. Ensures clinical staff are trained on preparation for pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratory.
  • Trains on correctly preparing and administering medication. Trains on using patient identifiers prior to administration of medication. Trains on how to document administration in required logs.
  • Trains on removing sutures and/or staples and how to change sterile and non-sterile dressing.
  • LPN/MA Trainer will explain the basic x-rays or how staff can assist Radiology Technician with x-ray set up.
  • Trains on how to complete medical charting to include medical services rendered, test results and supplies used.
  • Trains on patient call backs, and on scheduling follow up appointments.
  • Trains how to monitor disposable inventory and how to places orders for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
  • Trains on how to perform quality checks on medical equipment to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Employees in these positions will be required to be trained in x-ray.
  • Other duties as assigned. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

Education:

  • Graduate of an LVN program. Must possess a current License for state of employment as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistant preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess DOT Urine Drug Screen Collector certificate and DOT BAT certificate. 
  • Must obtain and maintain a current certification in BLS.

Experience:

  • At least one year of experience as an LPN/MA, preferably in an Urgent Care setting. 
  • Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to clinic standards when no directions are given. 
  • Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Skills:

  • PC skills or applicable computer experience.
  • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology. 
  • Ability to work all shifts. 
  • Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair or stretcher. 
  • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
