ABOUT FARMHOUSE
Farmhouse is a zero-waste grocery and meal kit company on a mission to redefine the future of food retail by focusing on sustainability and zero waste. Farmhouse will open brick-and-mortar zero-waste grocery markets, allowing customers to shop for groceries, prepared foods, and pantry items using reusable containers or eco-friendly packaging. These markets will provide an immersive, community-centered shopping experience, offering local, sustainable products while reducing single-use plastic waste.

In addition to the physical stores, Farmhouse will continue to grow its delivery business. This dual strategy ensures Farmhouse can balance a sustainable delivery model while laying the groundwork for a national network of zero-waste grocery stores. Farmhouse’s mission is to lead the grocery industry toward a zero-waste future and set a new standard in sustainability and eating real food grown from local farmers.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and visionary CEO to lead Farmhouse through this exciting and ambitious phase of innovation and growth. The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience in multi-location grocery retail, such as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, or similar chains, where operational excellence, cash flow management, and sustainable business performance are key to success. This role will require a leader with a passion for sustainability, strong operational expertise, and a proven ability to scale businesses efficiently across multiple locations.

The CEO will drive the innovation necessary to establish Farmhouse as the leader in zero-waste grocery, with a keen focus on building an immersive shopping experience and managing a membership-driven model to drive customer engagement and loyalty.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute Farmhouse’s vision of becoming the industry standard for zero-waste grocery, guiding both the delivery business and the expansion of physical locations.
  • Operations & Multi-location Management: Oversee the establishment and operation of physical zero-waste markets, ensuring efficient scaling and operational performance across all locations, while managing the delivery side of the business.
  • Financial Performance & Cash Flow: Drive strong financial results through efficient cash flow management, optimizing margins and ensuring sustainable long-term business performance.
  • Membership Program Development: Lead the design and execution of a membership program that enhances customer retention, encourages repeat business, and creates a loyal community of eco-conscious shoppers.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration across all levels of the business.
  • Customer Experience & Brand Development: Ensure a seamless and immersive customer experience in both digital and physical channels, reinforcing Farmhouse’s core mission of zero-waste and sustainability.
  • Expansion Strategy: Identify and manage the rollout of new store locations while balancing growth with the company’s core value of sustainability, ensuring long-term profitability across all channels.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in multi-location grocery retail, with proven success in managing store operations, optimizing cash flow, and driving profitability.
  • Expertise in scaling operations across multiple locations, ideally within mission-driven organizations that focus on sustainability or innovative retail models.
  • Proven ability to design and execute membership or subscription-based programs.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in P&L management, budgeting, and cash flow optimization.
  • Passionate about sustainability and the future of zero-waste grocery retail.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of attracting and retaining top talent, and fostering a collaborative and innovative company culture.
  • Experience with both delivery models and brick-and-mortar operations is a strong plus.
