We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Associate Underwriter. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Credit Underwriters and Lending Support in reviewing and reconciling files to guidelines, overlays, and industry standards. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable insight into the underwriting process.
Duties include:
- Thorough review of loan file documentation to determine deficiencies and/or issues.
- Run Automated Underwriting System (AUS) and vendor software and reconcile documentation to the result.
- Clear conditions as they are submitted, meeting company SLA requirements.
- Set conditions as needed to obtain information or documentation needed to complete loan files when resubmission documentation is not sufficient to clear a condition.
- Complete revisions for loans suspended in Loan Delivery or in Closing as necessary.
- Order MI for loans requiring Mortgage Insurance in accordance with MI company guidelines.
- Participate in all trainings and webinars assigned.
- Complete other duties or tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Fannie Mae and FHA Guidelines.
Skills:
- Must have strong reasoning ability and logical thinking skills; ability to review file documentation and identify issues.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Highly motivated self-starter able to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively and professionally communicate with Loan Officers and Processors to expedite the file to closing.
- Attention to detail, with concise and accurate data input.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to research agency and company guidelines, overlays and policies to provide accurate answers.
- Ability to work well and deliver quality results in a fast-paced environment with strict timelines.
- Customer service orientation.
- PC literate with MS Office skills and other business software.
