Full Job Description

Serves to create an environmentally friendly program to educate our residents in basic agricultural, animal management, and wildlife management skills. Acts as a liaison with homelife and the school to include residents in community projects. Coordinates animal care, asset management, equipment maintenance, and inventory activities. Strives to showcase agricultural aspects of the ranch for our residents, visitors and potential donors.

Essential Duties:

1. Manages farm animals utilized in therapeutic programming. Feeds and cares for animals seven days a week. Animals maintained include chickens, goats, rabbits, ducks, pigs, horses, donkeys, fish, etc.

2. Manages community green house, including vegetable, fruit and aquaculture.

3. Manages community garden, including vegetable and fruit production.

4. Coordinates wildlife management activities including beekeeping, pond management projects, deer surveys, quail management, etc.

5. Acts as a liaison with homelife and the school to include students in community agriculture, animal and wildlife projects.

6. Teaches courses in collaboration with Boys Ranch Independent School District. Works with the school district to identify and align projects with school curriculum needs.

7. Applies scientific process to problem solving techniques.

8. Exhibits appropriate interaction with residents and provides training and direction to residents involved in the garden, greenhouse and wildlife management activities.

9. Assists in agricultural activities as needed to include any farming and ranching projects.

10. Assists in horse riding and rodeo events as needed.

11. Assists in the coordination of special events as assigned, to include the Boys Ranch Rodeo, Tri-State Rodeo activities, Boys Ranch Fire Department activities, Oldham County Chamber of Commerce events and similar activities.

12. Assists in the care and feeding of Future Farmers of America (FFA) animal projects.

13. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.

Requirements

1. A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.

2. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

3. 3-5 years' experience in range wildlife management is preferred.

4. Experience in aquaculture and/or hydroculture preferred.

5. Applies scientific process to problem solving techniques.

6. Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.

7. Acts as a liaison with homelife and the school to include students in construction projects.

8. Exhibits appropriate interaction with residents and provides training and direction to residents involved in construction activities.

9. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and related software is required.

10. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.

11. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.

12. Must be at least 21 years of age.

13. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

14. Must be available for travel as needed.
