Full Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate, experienced adult psychiatrist to join our medical facility. You will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing, or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the patient’s progress.
Essential Duties:
- Assessing patients through psychiatric evaluations, daily rounding, and medical history reviews.
- Lead the multidisciplinary care team as the attending psychiatry provider
- Assess patients for appropriateness for level of care and their specific program
- Provides direct clinical care in psychiatry, including brief assessments, interventions, and medication management
- In collaboration with treatment team, patient, and family, develop behaviorally-focused, evidenced-based treatment plans of care that address mental health, functional impairment, and co-occurring addictive or psychiatric disorders
- Work with program RN on addressing and collaborating with outpatient providers on comorbid medical issues in our patient population
- Regularly following up with the patient to check progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
- Thoroughly documenting each patient's diagnosis, symptoms, medication, treatment effectiveness, etc.
- Supports trauma-informed care model
- Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
- Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements
- Board-eligible in psychiatry
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
- Licensed to practice medicine in Texas
- Current DEA registration
- Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM criteria
- Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
- Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
