Full Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate, experienced adult psychiatrist to join our medical facility. You will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing, or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the patient’s progress.

Essential Duties:

  • Assessing patients through psychiatric evaluations, daily rounding, and medical history reviews.
  • Lead the multidisciplinary care team as the attending psychiatry provider
  • Assess patients for appropriateness for level of care and their specific program
  • Provides direct clinical care in psychiatry, including brief assessments, interventions, and medication management
  • In collaboration with treatment team, patient, and family, develop behaviorally-focused, evidenced-based treatment plans of care that address mental health, functional impairment, and co-occurring addictive or psychiatric disorders
  • Work with program RN on addressing and collaborating with outpatient providers on comorbid medical issues in our patient population
  • Regularly following up with the patient to check progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
  • Thoroughly documenting each patient's diagnosis, symptoms, medication, treatment effectiveness, etc.
  • Supports trauma-informed care model
  • Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements

  • Board-eligible in psychiatry
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Texas
  • Current DEA registration
  • Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM criteria
  • Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
  • Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
