Millington Public Library seeks a full-time Outreach and Program Coordinator to provide excellence in services and programs to the Millington community. This is an exciting position for a professional who will create engaging and informative programs, and through outreach to the community, will connect patrons to all that the library has to offer.
This position reports directly to the Library Director.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily under the direction of the Library Director:
- Lead Library Team through the program proposal process, including fielding all proposals and making improvements and edits for compliance with Library guidelines, aiding with proposal creation, maintaining archive of programs, documenting copyright and ensuring alignment with strategic goals and collection development efforts
- Schedules and facilitates regular program staff meetings which will include planning, scheduling, and regular assessment of all library programs
- Provide leads and suggestions for future programming efforts, based on best practices and community input; guide brainstorming for stellar programming
- Act as a primary programming professional at the Millington Public Library; provide programming for assigned age groups, both in person and virtually, upkeep and promotion of the service areas’ resources and materials, and connection with the local community
- Building on a successful framework, re-imagining the promotion and implementation of the library's summer reading program
- Plan and present inter-generational programming
- Maintain supplies and supply chain, including organizing and distributing stored or new supplies, purchasing at the discretion of the Director
- Plan, present, and coordinate presenters for inclusion in Library programs; maintain lists for future reference
- Outreach to the community to educate about Library services, resources, and events
- Plans, sets up, tears down all programs
- Connect patrons with Library and community resources and services, such as reading materials or community services
- Work with staff to plan and promote Summer Learning events and programs
- Create and deliver presentations o community groups and partners
- Facilitate and edit graphic and promotional requests from programmers to ensure quality and compliance
- Coordinate and manage online calendar of events including reviewing and editing program descriptions and titles, ensuring statistics are entered accurately and compiling statistical reports as needed
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
- MLIS/MLS preferred, Comparable education and experience considered
- Possess an understanding of the tools of library services including virtual programming, event management, educational partnerships, learning benchmarks, community initiatives, etc. along with high creativity and excellent planning skills
- Have the ability to work as part of a team and the ability to motivate and engage others
- Ability to evaluate trends and talent, analyze and document data, and prepare recommendations based upon information collected
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams
- Ability to work effectively under pressure; excellent organizational skills, time management efficiency, and careful attention to detail
- Experience and confidence with technology including social media, tablets, cameras, word processing, spreadsheets, PCs/Apple products, online programming resources, and more
- A positive, optimistic, and supportive attitude is essential to the position
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location
- File and retrieve books and other items on high shelves; lift
- Push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds of heavy boxes, books, and equipment
- Work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
