Full Job Description

F. L. Crane & Sons, Inc. an employee-owned specialty contractor with over 75 years of experience covering a wide range of finishing, metal panel systems and custom crating. We are based out of Fulton MS and operate 14 divisions throughout the southeastern part of the US.   • Supervise and manage a team of metal workers, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and support. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project status, address concerns, and promote a collaborative work environment. 
  • Oversee the metalworking process from start to finish, including fabrication, assembly, and installation. Ensure that all projects adhere to design specifications, quality standards, and deadlines. 
  • Monitor and inspect metalwork to ensure that it meets company standards and client specifications. Identify and address any issues related to workmanship, materials, or equipment. 
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct safety training and ensure that all team members are equipped with and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). 
  • Develop and manage production schedules to ensure timely completion of projects. 
  • Provide training and mentoring to new and existing team members. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team. 
  • Oversee the inventory of materials and tools needed for metalworking projects. Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of materials and ensure that equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition. 
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during metalworking operations. Implement solutions to maintain productivity and ensure that project requirements are met. 
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, team performance, and material usage. Prepare and submit regular reports on production status, quality metrics, and team activities to management. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality in metalworking operations. 

Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required) 
  • Prior Manufacturing experience (preferred)   

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow verbal instructions   
  • Ability to read color labels and identify products   
  • Ability to read tape measure   
  • Ability to use saw, nail guns, and other hand tools   
  • Basic math skills   
  • Forklift training    
  • Ability to count   
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.  
  • Proficiency in crate building techniques and tools.  
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices.  
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
