The Town is seeking applicants for a Administrative Assistant in the Community Development department. The position is hourly with a range of pay from $19.73-$26.52. Eligible for an increase after 6 months.

Requirements
Essential Functions
- Acknowledges the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries from personnel, citizens, and others; refers to appropriate department/personnel as needed.
- Answers phones and emails, provides information or routes communication and calls to appropriate department/personnel as required.
- Distributes plan submittals, updates and distributes copies of ordinances.
- Assists with maintaining database material, and records and indexes meeting minutes.
- Prepares meeting packets and materials for various committees, delivers packets, and creates PowerPoints for meetings.
- May learn and perform the work of lower and higher-level personnel to ensure continuity of services and internal activities and communication to the public, customers, and internal activities.
- Responds to citizen requests and complaints.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; thorough knowledge of department programs and policies; thorough knowledge of standard computer software and hardware; ability to manage time and work within time constraints; ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry equipment; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens, town staff, elected officials, and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working as an administrative assistant in planning or related department, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires writing, sitting and speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Must be a Tennessee Notary Public within one (1) year of hire.
Valid driver's license in the State of Tennessee.
