ABOUT THE JOB
The Employment Support Professional is responsible for providing assistance and support to the person supported to ensure he or she is successful in their work position. This position is responsible for teaching the skills needed to be able to perform the job, as well as provide encouragement and support as they build up the person’s self-confidence and professional development. Work is typically performed with the people supported in the community and/or agency. While working as an Employment Support Professional, there may be exposure to blood borne pathogens and exposure to profanity, violent, and/or offensive behavior.

LOCATION: Pierre, South Dakota
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Documentation
- Prepares reports and maintains accurate and timely documentation of individuals’ behavior, progress, and goals to include T-logs, ISP data, GERs, MAR and health tracking.
Transportation
- Drives company vehicle to transport people supported to work and work activities.
- Completes the required vehicle documentation.
- Ensures that all vehicle and company property maintenance, safety and cleanliness requirements are addressed in a timely manner and in accordance with agency quality standards.
Coaching
- Serves as a mentor by demonstrating the desired behaviors and coaching the person supported using approved techniques and strategies to enhance their employment skills.
- Identifies job duties and responsibilities, converts them into a format that the person supported best understands, then trains and coaches them on it.
- Observes social interaction and discusses findings with the person supported.
- Provides the person supported with tools to resolve his or her own difficulties.
People Supported
- Advocates for people supported to gain employment through job development appropriate to their skills, interests, and goals.
- Arranges the scheduling of job sampling and situational assessments, as required.
- Assists people supported with identifying natural supports in the workplace.
- Attends to the person supported personal needs that could include grooming, toileting, and medication administration, as needed.
Training and Agency Commitment
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and training, including all Essential Learning training.
- Completes classes and maintains certification in medication administration, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Positive Behavior Support training.
- Represents the agency in a professional manner in the community.
- Completes ACRE certification within 1 year of employment
Confidentiality
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding agency information, including any information regarding the people supported.
Requirements
- Age 18 or older
- High school diploma, or GED
- Valid South Dakota drivers license
- Must be insurable under agency’s automobile policy
- Must be able to pass agency drug screen process, Medicaid and Medicare, fraud checks, a criminal background check, and an employment history verification
- Advanced understanding of computer functions
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds; and be able to walk, bend, squat, turn in the knees, back, wrists and shoulders, and grasp with both hands
