Full Job Description

The Site Coordinator of our Pleasant Valley Connection location is responsible for creating an exceptional participant experience through the development and delivery of programs that encourage a high quality of life for the over 55 population. Working closely with the leadership at Pleasant Valley Connection , the Site Coordinator creates, implements, and evaluates programs that meet the needs of participants, attracts new participants, and seeks to engage them in active participation. The Pleasant Valley Connection program meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and programs may include, but are not limited to: continuing education, entertainment, social activities, arts and crafts, music classes, special events, and group travel. The Site Coordinator also oversees the service of a meal each day ensuring that all program regulations are followed.

This position works within broad policy and organizational guidelines and does independent planning and implementation while reporting progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings with supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, promote, execute, and evaluate regular program schedules to provide creative and value-added classes, programs, and activities for participants.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of an activities calendar and newsletter.
  • Manages the physical environment of building including daily cleaning, room setups, lunch, internal and external appearances, general cleanliness, décor of rooms, classroom supplies, bulletin boards and other forms of program promotion.
  • Prepares records and reports concerning Center activities and operations and as needed for grant reporting, departmental certifications, and overall documentation of the adherence of federal, state, and local laws.
  • Participates in marketing and public relations efforts.
  • Routinely analyze effectiveness and customer satisfaction of events and activities provided to ensure the activities are meeting the needs of the participants.
  • Receives and responds in a timely manner to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance from patrons and the general public.
  • Performs general administrative/clerical work as required, including preparing reports and correspondences, entering and retrieving electronic data, copying and filing documents, attending meetings, answering and responding to telephone and electronic messages.
  • Perform Other duties as assigned

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Ability to create, manage, and adapt a broad program plan in coordination with leadership and staff

  • Strong communication skills with highly diverse populations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong, writing, teaching and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated and proven technology skills that include but are not limited to MS Office Suite products, Google, Social Media, and other general computer skills
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Psychology, Social Work, Recreation, health promotion, health or a related area preferred; or one to three years related experience and/or training. Experience working with senior adults preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Benefits

$12/hour, 9:00am – 1:00pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (approximately 12 hours/week). Occasional evening and weekend hours.
