R&D Chemist

Seeking an R&D Chemist with expertise in organic chemistry to join our team. The ideal candidate will conduct laboratory synthesis and experimentation to troubleshoot plant upsets, improve existing processes, and develop new products. This role requires a strong background in chemical synthesis, particularly with polymers.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and set up laboratory equipment for experiments and evaluations.
• Conduct literature research using tools such as SciFinder, STN, USPTO, and Espacenet.
• Perform laboratory experiments and evaluations safely and effectively.
• Analyze experimental data and provide recommendations and conclusions based on the analysis.
• Document experimental work and results, and prepare technical reports as directed.
• Develop new pathways of synthesis for existing or new products.
• Develop new products for new applications.
• Identify and characterize anomalies causing off-spec production and deviations from statistical control.
• Interpret analytical results for management.
• Define the physical, chemical, and specifications properties for new raw materials.
• Report laboratory activities and project status.
• Understand and interpret analytical data from GC, HPLC, GPC, FT-IR, UV-Vis, TGA, DSC, AA, NMR.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) is required.
• Previous experience in a Synthesis Laboratory is required.
• PhD in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) is desirable.
