Job Summary

The Material Handling Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of material handling systems in various industrial environments. The role requires a keen understanding of material flow, equipment selection, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Primary industry work will be in chemical, pulp & paper and mineral processing. Please note: We are hiring 1 position, although the candidate could potentially work out of either of the 2 areas listed, which would be discussed during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Experience preparing the following documents for studies and detail design: general arrangement drawings, equipment specifications, process flow diagrams, bid evaluations, vendor and shop drawing reviews
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop design calculations related to material handling.
  • Work closely with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Analyze existing material handling processes and recommend improvements.
  • Utilize CAD software to create layout designs and technical drawings.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement and installation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • The person should be familiar with the following types of equipment:
    • Belt conveyors
    • Transfer towers
    • Weigh feeders
    • Metal detection / separation
    • Screening
    • Screw conveyors
    • Bucket elevators
    • Storage silo / bins
    • Crushers and grinding
    • Feeders and weighting
    • Dust collection
    • Packaging
    • Cranes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in material handling engineering or related engineering discipline
  • PE License (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAD software and material handling simulation tools (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
