Full Job Description
The Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for performing any combination of general / basic maintenance and cleaning duties to maintain school facilities in a clean, safe and orderly manner. The Facilities / Maintenance Coordinator may perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, dusting, and removing trash, as well as routine maintenance and repair activities such as but not limited to assembling furniture, painting, pressure washing surfaces, replacing ceiling tile, changing filters, cleaning drains, changing light bulbs, and minor carpentry, plumbing, and concrete work. The Facilities/Maintenance Coordinator may also perform duties including supporting special events by assisting with setting up tables and chairs and cleaning up after the event. The Facilities / Maintenance Coordinator must be able to work in a cooperative way with the Facilities Department, as well as interact in a positive manner with all members of the faculty, staff and administration.
Requirements
· Performs routine maintenance and repair activities such as assembling furniture, painting, pressure washing surfaces, replacing ceiling tile, minor carpentry, minor plumbing, minor concrete work, changing light bulbs, and changing filters and cleaning drains on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
· Makes adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
· Cleans classrooms, labs, offices, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
· Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
· Gathers and empties trash and transports to disposal area.
· Keeps storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
· Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms and locker rooms.
· Cleans windows, glass partitions, mirrors, and ventilation grills
· Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
· Assists with setting up campus spaces, including but limited to, the gym and PAC for athletic or special events to include retracting goals, installing/removing floor mats, setting up/removing tables and chairs, opening/closing bleachers, and cleaning up afterwards.
· Moves heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
· Observes all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Facilities Department.
· Flexibility is essential. The Custodian will perform other activities or duties as assigned on an as-needed basis by the Head of School or his/her designee.
