We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic Education Programs Coordinator to help us bring learning to life, outside of the classroom, in the most fun and captivating ways. You’ll be the conductor of our Nature Train, guiding school students through our breathtaking property with a mix of excitement and wonder. Lace up those boots because you’ll be leading exhilarating walking tours, exploring every nook and cranny of our botanical paradise. But that’s not all - we’re all about hands-on learning here at Magnolia! Gather samples, craft one-of-a-kind activities, and harness the unique materials found only at Magnolia to create unforgettable educational experiences. 

What you will be doing:

  • Be the dynamic force behind every facet of our engaging programs, from planning thrilling educational adventures to managing team members and volunteers and ensuring our classrooms are stocked and ready for unforgettable experiences
  • Lead the charge in program development by ensuring our offerings remain innovative and pertinent to contemporary environmental and historical concerns, particularly those affecting our region, integrating data from ongoing research into lessons, and ensuring alignment with the standards set by the SC Department of Education
  • Continuously evaluate program success, adapt as necessary, and introduce new offerings to meet audience demands while upholding our three pillars - History, Horticulture & Nature - ensuring our educational experiences remain vibrant and relevant 
  • Actively contribute to the overall marketing of programs, reaching new and diverse audiences to ensure our educational experiences resonate far and wide
  • Stay at the forefront of professional development by attending educational workshops, staying current with relevant literature and building professional networks to enhance expertise and effectiveness 
  • Collaborate seamlessly with all departments, fostering cohesion and synergy to ensure a unified approach 
  • Represent a team-player spirit when assigned other duties and projects as required

Requirements

Who you are:

  • You are wildly passionate about animals and educating the public with 1-2 years of related experience 
  • You’ve earned a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Education, Biology, History, Horticulture or Ecology 
  • You’ve got a strong knowledge of the natural history of the southeastern USA. You have the ability to interpret the unique historical and environmental characteristics found in our region. 
  • You are comfortable connecting with a wide variety of people, and do so by flexing your presentation style to meet the unique needs and backgrounds of the people you’re with
  • You’re tech savvy, and utilize technology to not just streamline and automate the process, but to collect data to support decisions regarding program development
  • You have the ability to work with minimal supervision and function independently on a daily basis
  • As Magnolia is a tourist attraction, this position may require long-days and/or work on the weekends as needed. We’re mindful that in order for you to be the most effective in your role, it’s important that you balance that work with time to rest, so we offer generous PTO and other benefits to support you
