The Disaster Recovery Specialist is responsible for ensuring the protection, recovery, and continuous operation of critical business systems following interruptions due to disasters, including natural, technical, or human-induced events. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of modern DR strategies and tools within our technology environment, which includes HPE Nimble storage, Cohesity backups, and Aruba networking.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation
- Design, implement, and maintain effective disaster recovery (DR) plans for all critical systems.
- Ensure HPE Nimble storage and Cohesity backup systems are replicating correctly and securely.
Risk Assessment and Documentation
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in our IT infrastructure.
- Document risk assessment details and update DR plans accordingly.
Testing and Training
- Develop and execute DR testing plans to ensure readiness and effectiveness.
- Train relevant personnel on DR procedures and protocols to ensure preparedness.
Data Backup and Recovery
- Oversee data backup strategies and ensure recovery processes are effective and compliant with company policies.
Incident Response
- Respond to incidents promptly, coordinating recovery efforts and minimizing downtime.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain thorough documentation of all DR processes and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and corporate policies regarding DR.
Continuous Improvement
- Regularly review and improve DR strategies and tools to align with evolving technology and business needs.
Technical Expertise
- Leverage knowledge in virtualization, cloud services, backup solutions, networking, storage systems, and database management.
- Utilize monitoring tools for system performance and reliability.
- Employ scripting and automation to enhance efficiency of DR processes.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in disaster recovery development and execution within a complex IT environment.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with HPE Nimble and Cohesity platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Aruba networking solutions.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud services is advantageous.
- Command of scripting languages and automation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective documentation and training.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to incidents effectively.
Certifications:
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or DRII certification.
- ITIL or related IT service management certification.
