Full Job Description
The Director of Member Programs is responsible for creating an excellent membership experience through the development and delivery of programs that encourage a high quality of life for active adults over 55 that are fun and enjoyable. Using professional research and best practices combined with assessed needs of clients, programs are created, implemented, and evaluated that serve the needs of members, attract new members, and seek to retain members to active participation. Programs may include, but are not limited to, continuing education, entertainment, social activities, arts and crafts, music classes, special events, and group travel.
- Develop and promote regular program schedules and value-added programs
- Supervise site coordinators and programs at all Senior Action locations.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills
- Contribute to the overall growth and retention of membership, both individual and corporate
- Monitor the physical environment of building including room setups, refreshments, appearance, cleanliness, and décor of rooms, classroom supplies, bulletin boards and other forms of program promotion.
- Develop and publish an activities calendar and newsletter.
- Encourage member participation to develop and maintain member’s fullest potential through planned activities.
- Cultivate leisure time activities such as games, puzzles, movies, etc.
- Coordinate and conduct outside activities including scenic drives, luncheon and dinner outings, performing arts and cultural exhibits, etc.
- Plan and implement special events throughout the year
- Develop, train, and oversee a network of community volunteers
- Routinely analyze effectiveness and customer satisfaction of events
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Psychology, Social Work, health promotion, health, recreation, or a related area preferred; or one to three years related experience and/or training
- Ability to create, manage, and adapt a broad program plan
- Ability to manage a budget and program expenses
- Strong management skills overseeing coordinators at different locations.
- Strong teaching and presentation skills
- Energetic and outgoing personality
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
