Childcare Education Specialist | Metro Columbia | Hybrid Position
The Sunshine House Early Learning Academy is seeking a Childcare Education Specialist to motivate, manage, and provide professional consultation to our South Carolina schools in the areas of education and curriculum, quality rated improvement systems, and staff coaching, training, & development.
Travel requirements: This is a hybrid position with 75% intrastate travel to support our schools in metro Columbia, Upstate, Lowcountry, Greenwood, and Aiken.
Salary range: $55,000-$60,000, based on experience, education, and credentials.
Position includes car allowance, travel expenses, cell phone, and laptop.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coach, and mentor small team of Education Coaches, including planning goals and objectives, scheduling, providing guidance, reviewing progress and reports, etc.
- Partner with Regional Directors in assessing and addressing center curriculum needs.
- Evaluate centers to determine necessary resources for success, place orders, inventory orders, organize and place resources, as needed and within budget.
- Develop and deliver customized trainings to ensure employees are delivering on our educational promises.
- Design and implement corrective action work plans.
- Participate in the orientation and onboarding of new employees pertaining to curriculum and education initiatives.
- Represent The Sunshine House through writing articles and presenting at local and/or national conferences.
Requirements
Education & Experience Requirements:
- BA/BS in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field. If degree is not in this field, a minimum of 24 credit hours of Early Childhood Education is required.
- MA/M Ed in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience as a teacher or primary care provider in an early childcare and education setting with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers required.
- At least 2 years of childcare management or regulatory experience preferred.
- Experience with employees located in multiple sites preferred.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of age-appropriate practices for children ages infant-12 years old.
- Exceptional knowledge of developmentally-appropriate curriculum and instruction techniques for young children, and ability to coach teachers on how to implement curriculum activities.
- Exceptional knowledge of Environmental Rating Scales, and ability to coach teachers on appropriate interactions and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of licensing, health and safety, QRIS, and accreditation requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of effective room arrangement in a variety of settings.
- Practical knowledge and use of planning resources, daily schedules, child portfolios, observations, and assessments.
Professional Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance and consultation in the areas of child development, care giving activities, developmentally-appropriate environments for young children, positive guidance, prevention of child abuse/neglect, and age-appropriate needs of children.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle a variety of duties at multiple schools at the same time, and quickly adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Complete work with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy items in excess of 35 pounds.
