Full Job Description

Academic Resource Center (ARC) faculty provides individual and small group services to K-12 students with documented accommodations through scheduled resource and/or NILD Educational Therapy support sessions. ARC faculty collaborates with grade level Mentors to coordinate, communicate and provide assistance for students and their learning needs beyond the parameters of the classroom, while working within the standard curriculum. Sessions focus on developing underlying neurocognitive concerns while building greater confidence and independence within the student’s capabilities. Faculty are expected to seek continuous education in learning development, pursue and construct new methodologies, collaborate with families, faculty, and students, and model Christian mentoring to equip all ARC students for academic, social, and spiritual success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and assist students utilizing a Christian Worldview.
  • Maintain and meet school-wide performance goals.
  • Interpret, analyze, and communicate student data from formal neuropsychological evaluations and other relevant sources to design annual goals and lesson plans, implement instructional programs and supplemental instruction as well as create student summary documentation.  
  • Construct and write annual student summary reports for both new and existing students and clearly articulate the student’s learning profile and necessary accommodations to students’ families, mentors, principals, and Director of Guidance.
  • Organize and maintain confidentiality of documents pertaining to student records, performance history, and family, teacher, and medical communications. 
  • Integrate student-driven, project-based learning goals (agency, collaboration, knowledge and critical thinking, oral and written communication, and Christian worldview) into learning situations.
  • Access lesson plans, grade book, and upcoming assignments via Blackbaud to help coordinate, plan and monitor student work and progress. 
  • Collaborate with faculty and families for students suffering progress deficiencies to ensure all accommodations are provided for the student and determine if other adjustments or additional educational methodologies may be required to resolve the difficulty. 
  • Integrate technology and be proficient with the technological resources utilized in classroom settings, at all levels, to aid student learning.
  • Attend all scheduled committee, department, team and faculty meetings, devotions and life groups, and professional development opportunities provided to Mentors along with other opportunities specifically related to the ARC Department as well any scheduled meetings between ARC student families and HHCA faculty and/or staff. 
  • Participate in mentor related school day duties and extracurricular duties as needed and outlined in administrative communications which may include evenings or weekends, as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-ordered workspace for yourself and others according to the school’s cultural norms and practices.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree; National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) certification highly preferred; other Orton Gillingham based instructional training, certification, experience also preferred

Experience: Previous teaching experience 2 - 3 years in a similar role. Comfortable, competent and adept in engaging with students across various grade levels and content areas. Either K-6 or 7-12 or both.
