Access Services is hiring a part time Young Adult Certified Peer Specialist for the Peer Support and Teen Talk Lines to support young adults in Montgomery County and Chester County who are living with mental illness.  The Young Adult Certified Peer Specialist will support each person to be more successful through improved wellness and attention to their personal recovery goals.  Utilizing their own recovery journey as a valuable tool, the Young Adult CPS will provide guidance and support through calls and texts on the Peer Support Talk Line (PSTL) and Teen Talk Lines (TTLs).  In all interactions, the Young Adult Certified Peer Specialist will motivate, coach and assist individuals to achieve their personal goals, make connections, and improve their overall sense of wellness. 

 Schedule:

  • This part time role will require shifts that include Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 1-9pm). One day will be selected as a shorter shift.  

 Essential Functions of the Young Adult Certified Peer Specialist:  

  • Work shifts as assigned by leadership with the highest degree of dependability. 
  •  Provide active listening and support to individuals calling or texting into the warmlines,  

             connect callers with community resources, and use firsthand experiences and Certified  

             Peer Specialist training to support others in their recovery journey. 

  • Ensure the highest quality of service to individuals. This includes proactively identifying  

            and completing outreach calls, completing risk assessment, and communicating quickly  

            a supervisor when a referral to the Mobile Crisis program services is necessary. 

  • Complete all required documentation, including the electronic health record, and daily logs in a timely manner. 
  • Take ownership to complete ongoing training requirements and maintain the required continuing education credits to renew CPS certification when needed. 
  • This position requires the ability to travel during a normal workday to successfully carry out the expectations of this position including attending offsite meetings, providing services in the community and providing service oversight and supervision. Therefore, the Young Adult Certified Peer Specialist will need to drive their personal vehicle and/or an agency owned vehicle to meet these expectations. All Access Services employees are expected to always drive safely, meet the eligibility criteria in the Motor Vehicle Policy, be available and willing to drive during work schedule, and successfully pass the agency’s substance abuse screening at any time during employment.  
  • Work on other responsibilities or special assignments as needed. 
  • Provide coverage for Peer Support Talk Line or Teen Talk Line, as needed. 

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED. 

Certification: Certified Peer Specialist certification  

  • Experience: One year of personal experience with chronic mental health issues required. Previous experience as a peer with adults/teens who have mental health challenges is preferred. 

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of recovery principles and motivational interviewing. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families, case managers and the public.  
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.  
  • Demonstrated cooperative and caring attitude toward others.  
  • Maintain positive, respectful relationships with all team members and other collaborating programs.  
  • Ability to relate to others due to personal experiences with chronic mental health issues.  
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others.  
  • Proficiency in, or ability to learn and use, workplace applications, platforms and technologies. 

 Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  

  • Work in a standard office environment and utilize desktop computer equipment daily; Able to lift or move items associated with sedentary and light work (exert up to 20 lbs.) 
  • Travel to offsite locations and regional office locations as needed.  

Benefits

Pay: $17-$18/hourly
