The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Sr. Retail/Deposit Operations Officer – VP role in the Philadelphia, PA area. The chosen candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to branch system ensuring sustainable revenue growth,  including securing new customers, expanding opportunities with current customers, and delivering new  product offerings. Oversees all personnel and operations in the branch system. Promotes goodwill and generating new business for the Bank through involvement and communication with customers, area  businesses, community, and civic organizations. 

The position includes a generous salary of up to $170K as well as an excellent benefits package.

Sr. Retail/Deposit Operations Officer responsibilities include:

    • Makes business development calls on both current and prospective retail and commercial customers.  Meets with prospects and customers to identify business needs and recommends products and  solutions. Identifies current and potential future needs of customers, including Banking, Loan and  Wealth Management products and services with the goal of increasing product penetration.  Responsible for bank’s growth in deposits and loans. Makes quality referrals to other business lines  such as Wealth Management, Merchant, Mortgages and Commercial Lending activities. Develops  branch managers’ business customer calling skills as necessary. Partners with Branch Managers to  strategize sales opportunities. Helps plan, execute and follows-up on community, organizational, and  in-branch events to drive sales initiatives. Promotes the bank in the community by making outside  calls and maintaining an active and viable role in appropriate organizations. Represents the financial  institution in the community by actively participating as a member or officer of a community or civic  organization. Participates in civic activities to promote growth and development in the community  and creates a positive image for the bank. Represents the bank at designated functions as requested.  Maintain an exceptional knowledge of various banking products and services, as well as policies and  procedures.  
    • Acts as a liaison between management and branch personnel to communicate directives effectively  and in a positive manner to drive initiatives for the institution. Oversees all branches and personnel  including training, operations, and staffing. Embraces, promotes, trains and is proficient with all  technology, including those that are products and services used by bank customers. Ensures that  branch employees are proficient with promoting and training customers on all products and services  offered by the bank, including technology. Ensures that customer services are provided and that standard operating procedures are effectively trained and followed by all personnel. Coaches,  conducts performance appraisals, and resolves routine personnel problems.  
    • Greets and offers assistance to customers, potential customers, and employees upon entering  premises. Maintains knowledge on changing rates and products and how they would impact the  customer. Answers questions and assists in problem solving after researching the individual’s needs.  Maintains highly organized and confidential workstation. Maintains neat and orderly hand-out  information that is appropriate and readily available for customers should they benefit from having it.  Performs follow-up customer service to ensure customers are fully satisfied and completely  understand all products. Promptly answers incoming calls to the branch and returns phone messages  with excellent customer service technique.  
    • Abides by all applicable policies and procedures while promoting, selling, and activating products and services. Applies interview skills when meeting customers to find the best Bank loan product to fit the customer’s needs. Examines, evaluates, and processes loan  applications for customers within Federal guidelines and policies set by the Board of Directors.  Prepares necessary loan documents. Completes customer profile and commercial grading matrix.  Follows-up on loan tickler system. Responds promptly to pending documentation requests and  requirements. Responsible for closing and disbursing loan proceeds. Assists customers with loan  payoff procedures.  
    • Proficient with BSA, CIP Policy and funds availability.  
    • Prepares financial and regulatory reports required by law, regulations, and the Board of Directors.  
    • Open and close premises under dual control.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management related field.

  • Four or more years of bank operations, treasury, and payment experience in a community bank setting.

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Direct experience with a wide range of deposit-related banking products and services including credit and debit cards, online banking, treasury services, and general deposit processing.

  • Proven experience systematically improving processes and reducing costs.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
