Smoker & Company LLC is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing the payroll operations of clients’ payroll and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the process. As a successful, busy CPA firm with multiple offices in Lancaster and Berks County, Smoker & Company and its Family of Companies provide business services spanning various client needs such as bookkeeping, payroll, legal services, consulting, wealth management, and property management. The company’s mission is to meet the total accounting, tax, and business development needs of its clients to enhance the value of the businesses and individuals they are privileged to serve.
Responsibilities
Assistance in the months of April, July, October, and January, as well as covering PTOs.
Each person is required to work for approximately 40 hours during the month.
The working hours are very flexible as long as the work is completed on time.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
- Generate payroll reports for management review
- Assist with quarterly year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation
Requirements:
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation is a plus
Note:
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, withholding rates, and labor laws
- Experience with payroll software (preferably ADP or QuickBooks)
- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Detail-oriented and accurate with data entry and calculations
