Full Job Description
Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Technician at our Snyder of Berlin manufacturing facility located in Berlin, PA. The QA Technician is responsible to ensure product quality and product safety are consistent with corporate objectives. Additional responsibilities include performing raw material receiving testing, in process and finished product testing, document review, formulation, auditing and project work. This position requires a high level of analytical, technical and communication skills. Typical schedule would be Monday- Friday 2:00PM - 11:00PM, but will be based on production needs.
Essential Duties
- Assure the compliance of all incoming and outgoing materials, ingredients and packaged products with Snyder of Berlin/Utz Quality Foods standards.
- Assist in compliance of all local, state and federal Good Manufacturing Practices, GMP’s.
- Perform objective and subjective analysis of raw materials and finished goods to comply with Snyder of Berlin/Utz Quality Foods standards.
- Maintain accurate quality assurance records, as directed by the Quality Assurance Supervisor and Manager.
- Utilize approved lab methods for all samplings required for analysis as outlined in the quality assurance manual.
- Notify production management of any out-of-specification incoming materials and/or ingredients prior to unloading of the same. Attach appropriate identification to product (i.e. red tag labels).
- Assist in the compliance of Snyder of Berlin/Utz Quality Foods policies and procedures.
- Constantly look for, suggest, and initiate improved methods to maintain and/or reduce manufacturing costs.
- Keep the Quality Assurance Supervisor and Production Manager informed of any production concerns, problems and food safety issues.
- Maintain proficiency with daily quality monitoring tasks.
- Assist with the preparation of routine (weekly/monthly) and non-routine quality reports.
- Participate in training programs as assigned. Some programs require overnight travel.
- Remain current on all procedures and procedural changes that are applicable to the position.
- Immediately report food safety and food quality issues to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and/or Manager or other members of management with authority to act upon them.
- Adhere to all policies, guidelines, and procedures, such as GMP, HACCP, and work and safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of the company and department objectives.
Requirements
- Training and/or experience in microbiology.
- Experience in a food manufacturing facility working with quality assurance systems.
- High energy level with a demonstrated passion for driving continuous improvement in quality systems.
- Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision or guidance.
- Ability to manage responsibilities and workflow effectively and efficiently to consistently meet time frames for work assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with different groups, departments and levels of management, especially when team actions are necessary.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Solid decision-making skills with ability to recognize boundaries and seek assistance when needed.
- High level of integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality
- Solid organization skills, project management skills and ability to generate routine and non-routine reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Experience in deadline driven environment with excellent time management and organization skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelors or Associates Degree highly desired.
