Full Job Description
The Morris Animal Refuge (MAR) is looking for an organized, creative people-person with a flexible schedule who wants to join a team of animal lovers to raise money, run our social media platforms, and cover administrative duties for the development team. Social Media, Press, and Grant Writing will be the responsibility of the Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator with oversight from the Development Director. Fundraising campaigns include but are not limited to our Annual Gala, calendar contest, seasonal and holiday appeals. This full time position works closely with the Director of Development & Marketing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Online Communications
- Strategize, execute, and monitor an effective social media plan
- Capturing photos and videos of the animals to help promote them on social media
- Responding to social media messages and comments
- Create and schedule a weekly email newsletter
- Help development team execute holiday appeals
- Keep detailed account of funds raised via social platforms
- Write and maintain content for the news section of the website including Happy Tails stories
- Report out quarterly metrics on website and social media performance and growth.
Fundraising
- Create a plan to optimize the success of appeals and fundraising campaigns, alongside the Development Director, including holiday & seasonal mailings, social media promotions and other online communications.
- Manage logistics, communications, and marketing of the annual calendar contest
- Create and manage the annual GivingTuesday campaign alongside the Director of Development and Marketing
- Communicate with partner groups to effectively express fundraising goals and expectations
- Carry out a marketing strategy for seasonal and holiday appeals, calendar contests, and annual gala.
- Create and manage, through collaboration with other departments an annual in-kind donation plan.
- Motivated to create new and exciting ways to raise money for the refuge
- Communicate fundraising needs with the MAR team.
Grant Writing
- Communicate with other departments to ensure a clear understanding of what funding is needed for.
- Responsible for researching and applying to grants
- Carry out required reporting and requests for active grants
- Maintain a grants budget to effectively reach goals with the Development Director
Press
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude
- Perform interviews with confidence and accurate information
- Write press releases for upcoming events and fundraising campaigns
- Respond to comments that may put Morris in a negative light, with a calm and positive demeanor.
Qualifications and Abilities
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a van
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Calendar
- Familiarity and comfort using all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and more
- Ability to maintain professionalism and outgoing demeanor
- Organized, responsible, and ready to take ownership of our social media
- Must have a flexible schedule as event timing will change from week to week
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Creative, graphic design skills a plus
Position Type
Full time. 37.5 hrs/week. Must have Saturday, Sunday, and evening availability.
Salary and Benefits
Competitive wage will be commensurate with experience, starting at $15 –17/hr
