Full Job Description

Responsibilities: (We are hiring for our client a FT Perm. Legal Advocate and Medical Advocate) "Immediate hire", and great benefits, in this exciting onsite career with our client (a non profit org). We are NOT a staffing agency. We are "their" Human Resource Consultants who support all of their hiring needs and more. We are "NOT" A Staffing Agency. We are their HR Department/Consultant.

DV/SA Counselor Advocate – Medical

  • Some travel, including the possibility of minimal overnight
  • Develop and maintain communication with medical providers, including hospitals, doctors, and EMTs
  • Ascertain Domestic and Sexual Violence education needs of medical personnel throughout Clinton County and provide programming to meet identified needs
  • Attend Medical Advocacy Roundtable meetings through PCADV
  • Prepare and disseminate education and informational materials relating to medical advocacy
  • Collaborate with Executive Director to debrief staff who accompany survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence to medical facilities, as needed
  • Assist and participate in training of staff and prospective volunteers
  • Serve as the primary advocate for medical accompaniment and advocacy
  • Document Service Efforts and Time in ETO, Paytime and ETO Parallel HMIS,

DV/SA Counselor Advocate (as needed)

  • Maintain strict confidentiality standards
  • Serve as an advocate for the needs of individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, follow-up services and transportation to all survivors as needed/requested, including court and hospital transportation, accompaniment, and advocacy
  • Be registered and approved on the Protection from Abuse Database (PFAD) and assist with filling out forms, filing online, and follow-through by helping clients file Protection From Abuse and Sexual Violence Protection Orders and Victim Witness information and advocacy
  • Attend case management and staff meetings as required
  • Document Service Efforts and Time in ETO, Paytime and ETO Parallel HMIS
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual program reporting for grants as needed by providing relevant statistics and anecdotes.

V/SA Counselor Advocate - Legal

  • Some travel, including the possibility of minimal overnight
  • Maintain strict confidentiality standards
  • Serve as the lead advocate for the legal needs of individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, including court and legal appointment accompanimen
  • Educate clients about their legal rights, including courtroom procedures, and advocate with judicial and legal system to improve response to survivors of domestic and sexual violence
  • Act as the client’s liaison to the attorney to coordinate client services
  • Provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, follow-up services, and transportation to all victims, including court or hospital accompaniment as needed
  • Be registered and approved on the Protection from Abuse Database (PFAD), and assist with filling out forms, filing online, and follow-through by helping clients file pro se Protection from Abuse (PFA) and Sexual Violence Protection Orders (SVPO), Protection from Intimidation Order (PFIO), and Victim Witness information and advocacy forms
  • Coordinate the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) and other assessments utilized in Clinton County
  • Attend case management and staff meetings as required
  • Assist with presentations and services at the Clinton County Correctional Facility, as well as a point of contact for projects within the correctional system 10. Participate in relevant task forces, committees, and meetings (including PCADV Caucuses if relevant and desired), to include but not limited to STOP Team, Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB), and Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Legal Committee (PCADV)
  • Collaborate with County Detective and Victim Witness Coordinator to strengthen client services
  • Collaborate with law enforcement partners to educate and train law enforcement and legal system professionals on issues pertaining to law and protocol changes; domestic and sexual violence; teen dating violence; and stalking
  • Document service efforts and time in ETO (Efforts to Outcomes Database System) and Paytime (Payroll Time Tracking)
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual program reporting for grants as needed by providing relevant statistics and anecdotes.
  • Complete and remain current in all trainings, and more.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of general PC operations, Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, use of personal vehicle, proof of appropriate auto insurance, registration required, and be available for travel as position dictates
  • Act 33 and Act 34 Child Abuse and Criminal History Clearances and Act 114 Federal Criminal History Background Check (Fingerprint).
