Job Overview:
An Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects or other initiatives. They analyze project requirements, gather necessary data, and use their expertise to produce detailed cost estimates. Estimators play a crucial role in helping organizations make informed decisions, win contracts, and ensure project success.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
- Analyze project requirements and generate accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses.
- Gather and analyze data from various sources, such as blueprints, invoices, subcontractor quotes, and historical cost data.
- Identify and factor in potential risks, contingencies, and uncertainties in cost estimates.
Bid Preparation:
- Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.
- Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain accurate cost information.
Client Relations:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide clear and detailed explanations of cost estimates to clients.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up to date with industry trends, cost estimating methodologies, and relevant technologies.
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimation.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in the construction industry.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include frequent walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds at a time.
- May require travel.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Must be on call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
- Standing up to 90%; sitting up to 10%
Work Environment:
- Estimator Managers work primarily in an office setting. However, they may need to visit construction sites, attend client meetings, and interact with vendors and subcontractors as needed. The role may require occasional travel.
